T5 Terminal

Leonardo da Vinci- FCO

It's Only For Deperture Flights

This Terminal is about 400mt form main Terminal C

Can not walk to the terminal T5

If you arrive from the train station or from any others flights

To reach Terminal 5

Just walk to Terminal T3 DEPARTURE Bus Stop is out on the Street

Only way is from Terminal C departure take the free shuttle bus 5 minutes ride

First airport shuttles to T5 usually start about 06:45 because T5 usually opens around 07:00 Often, the security gates in T5 don’t open until 07:30. That’s because most US-flagged flights don’t arrive at FCO until after 06:00 – then they empty and prepare for the return trip to the US. This terminal is usually closed by 14:00 because there are no more US-flagged airlines flying back to the US in the afternoon.

The bus is at the last gate of Terminal 3 Departure

Terminal 5 has been built for departing passengers of American Airlines,
Continental Airlines, Delta,
United Airlines and US Airways
and has been designed with the aim to
increase the capacity of Fiumicino airport intercontinental area.
In the past years overcrowding at Terminal C has caused quite many problems to passengers.
The new building is just at a short distance from the airport terminals,
it extends over a total surface area of approximately 14,000 sqm
and it is subdivided into three main areas: an area dedicated to profiling activities,
a check-in area and a security/passport control area that also includes the gates
to the shuttle bus service, which transports passengers to the West Satellite for
boarding operations, covering a short-distance journey of 800 m only.
The security check area also provides a
Fast Track service for frequent flyers and business class passengers.
Services available to passengers are a pharmacy selling OTC products,
a coffee shop, soft drink vending machines, a baby-changing unit
and a special assistance lounge available to disabled passengers located in the profiling area.

Walking to Terminal 5 is really not an option. It’s only about 900 meters from Terminal 3 (and the train station) but parts of the road have NO sidewalk and are quite uneven. I’ve done this walk and I do not recommend this path if you have luggage. I was late – no shuttle in site – so I took off. Not a walk I want to repeat.

The Airport is on the East coast

Distance to City centre 35 KM.

time to drive is about 45 minutes.
